Foremost alternatives
Foremost is an open-source console program that allows you to recover files based on their headers, footers, and internal data structures. It can also create dictionaries of all the header and footer data structures as well as image metadata such as EXIF tags. The tool currently supports recovery from FAT12, FAT16, FAT32 formatted partitions, and HFS+ formatted volumes. For each file in a directory that you want to recover, foremost reads it and writes the data into a new file in the current directory using the same basename.
Foremost works by reading files sequentially and recording any data that does not appear to be random. This approach has proven to be quite effective at recovering damaged files from disk drives, CD-ROMs, and even digital camera memory cards. It can also be used to verify that a disk or media is not damaged by checking for the presence of reading errors anywhere on the media. All in all, Foremost is a great tool that you can consider among its alternatives.
