Heimdall alternatives
Heimdall is a cross-platform open-source tool suite used to flash firmware onto Samsung mobile devices and works in conjunction with existing proprietary tools to support a variety of functions. In contrast to the binary Odin, which only runs on Windows, Heimdall is a cross-platform (Linux, Windows, Mac OS X) solution. Furthermore, it is a command-line tool without a graphical user interface that allows advanced users to flash firmware (.tar/.tar.md5) on Samsung devices with KNOX boot loader enabled.
It allows you to talk to Samsung-based phones and tablets, like the Galaxy S series and Note series, over a serial interface. It supports similar devices with similar chipsets that are based on ARM926EJ-S core. For example, the Samsung S Series phones, Galaxy Ace Series, Galaxy Y Series, etc.
