Lavaboom alternatives
Lavaboom is a Zero Access Encrypted Email Service based in Germany. The founder Felix Müller-Irion developed the service after Lavabit was shut down. The team intended to cash in by introducing a similar service. The focus of the project is to simplify the user experience by removing the hassle users go through to manually generate and exchange encryption keys. The UX and UI are the proof of its commitment.
It uses JavaScript, and the whole encryption takes place in the browser, and the company can’t take a peek because the emails will be encrypted and decrypted on the device, resulting in maximum privacy. The service is open-source, and the repository can be found on GitHub, allowing those interested in going through the source code themselves to verify the claims. Lavaboom is targeted towards privacy-oriented and anyone who wants to secure their email conversations. Individual users can use the service without paying any fees, whereas Indiegogo backers will get access to 2GB of storage, and end-users will be given 1GB.
