Mtools alternatives
Mtools is a collection of tools to allow UNIX systems to manipulate MS-DOS files: read, write, and move around files on an MS-DOS file system, and there is no need for the mounting. It is a set of tools that work together to provide a reasonable interface for MS-DOS file-related tasks on Unix systems. This utility is facilitating mostly Unix engineers to develop MS-DOS file systems, but it works on other file systems too.
The goal of the program is to provide a reasonable POSIX-compatible API for manipulating MS-DOS files. It is actually a collection of closely related programs that are useful on their own or together. Mtools does not work by themselves; rather, you need each of the individual tools to do its job. It used the MS-DOS.COM file format for executables and included specialized binary command line parser libraries so that Unix utilities could be run on MS-DOS files.
