Nmap (Network Mapper) is a free security scanner used to discover hosts and services on the computer network to developing a map of the system. The software sends specially crafted packets to target and then analyses the responses. It is also known as an IP scanner that scans your IP addresses.
Nmap provides some features for probing computer networks such as host discovery and service, operating system detection and user-friendly interface, etc. These features are extensible by scripts that deliver more advanced service detection. It runs on all the primary operating systems, and official binary packages are available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
In addition to the classic command-line, the platform executable and the Nmap suite include an advanced GUI and results viewer, a flexible data transfer, debugging tools and redirections, etc.
