Outlook Express alternatives
Outlook Express was introduced by Microsoft and one of the widely used platforms for email and news. Initially, this platform was named Microsoft Internet Mail and News, which later changed to Outlook Express. The recently introduced mailing platform Microsoft Outlook is a totally different app, but structurally, both are similar. Computers sold with older Internet Explorer versions such as 4.0 and 6.0 included Outlook Express. When Windows 7 was released, this application was replaced with Windows Live Mail, which was initially a hard step for most Outlook users, as they were already accustomed to its set-up, interface, and features.
It was packaged with a few Microsoft Windows variants, from Windows 98 to Windows Server 2003, and was accessible for Windows 3.x, Windows NT 3.51, Windows 95, Mac System 7, Mac OS 8, and Mac OS 9. In Windows Vista, Outlook Express was replaced with Windows Mail. In Mac OS, Apple Mail replaced Outlook Express as Microsoft had discontinued it permanently. There are different reasons for which Microsoft had to shut down this project like there were certain criticisms of security issues, email standards, no undo mail option, etc.
