Pluma is a graphical application that supports editing multiple text files in one window, tabs, or MDI with full compatibility of international text through its use of the Unicode UTF-8 encoding. As a general-purpose text editor, the tool supports most standard editor components and emphasizes simplicity and ease of use. The utility has been developed to have a clean, simple graphical user interface according to the philosophy of the MATE project as the default text editor.
There are some plug-ins compatible with the utility are the following: file browser, tag list, word count, spell checker, insert date, sort, change the case of selected text, automatic snippet expansion, external tools, and Synctex. Pluma is a fork of gedit two and the default text editor of the MATE desktop efficacy used in Linux distributions and is an open-source subject to the needs of the GNU-based license. Its salient features include syntax highlighting of source code, file revert, full support for UTF-8, editing remote files, search & replace, configurable plug-in system, auto-indentation, and printing support with print preview.
