Super Mario Land is a Side-scrolling Platform and Single-player video game released by Nintendo in 1989 for Game Boy and Nintendo 3DS. The game serves as the first title released for a handheld device. It offers similar gameplay to the Super Mario Bros, but the screen is resized for smaller devices. In the game, the player needs to complete 12 challenging levels by merely moving to the right and jumping over platforms and hurdles to avoid enemies and pitfalls.
Unlike the original title, the game takes place in Sarasaland, a new environment. The ultimate goal of the player is to reach the end by overcoming platforms and defeating enemies. The player starts the game with limited lives, and upon coming in contact with the enemy, life will be detected. Therefore, the player must reach the flag safely by making the highest points. During the game, the player must collect as many coins as possible when scrolling with the screen to reach the destination.
