Textadept alternatives
Textadept is an excellent minimalist software text editor designed for computer programming, designed under the MIT license written in C and extensible Lua. This is for programmers that provide endless extensibility without sacrificing speed or succumbing to code bloat and featuritis. It can use either a graphical user interface or a text-based user interface when running in a terminal window.
The software uses the Scintilla editing component, and the developer makes the curses wrapper library for Scintilla used by Textadept available separately. The Scintilla is a free open source library that provides a text editing component function with an emphasis on advanced features for source code editing. In common with Emacs, it is deeply extensible. The Lua API has access to any subsystem of the program. Emacs is a family of text editors that are characterized by their extensibility. When running in a graphical interface, it purposely does not save window size or position, leaving this up to the window manager.
