The story of the game follows a young Seattle-based FBI agent named Craig Willmore, who sends by an Assistant Director, Walter Skinner, to investigate the disappearance of agent Dana Scully and Fox Mulder.
The game uses a point-and-click interface and full-motion video technology, known as Virtual Cinema, as well as includes large numbers of cut scenes that make the game more interesting. Like other puzzle games, it allows the player to explore both indoor and outdoor environments, interact with non-player characters, collect clues, and solve a series of puzzles to progress.
