FoxPro alternatives
FoxPro was a text-based procedurally oriented programming language and database management tool. It implemented its own data types, such as the BLOB (binary large object), which is an image file like a GIF, JPEG, or BMP file that can be embedded into a FoxPro program along with other data types such as strings BLOBs could be up to 2 gigabytes in size, and programs could allocate or deallocate space for them dynamically.
It was capable of communicating with other database management systems such as Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server. FoxPro also had a graphical interface called the FoxPro Advisor, which was similar in appearance and operation to the Visual Basic Advisor. The 32-bit version of FoxPro supported both 16-bit and 32-bit Windows API calls.
The original 16-bit version used a customized 16 bit API to take advantage of the underlying hardware. This approach had the advantage of not needing to virtualize memory so it could access more memory than specified in its programs’ configuration, but this was at the expense of speed. All in all, FoxPro is a great service that you can consider among its alternatives.
