Fping alternatives
Fping is a program that sends ICMP echo probes to network hosts to measure network performance. It can be used on any platform, but it is mostly used in UNIX-based systems. The main purpose of this tool is to detect IP hosts on the network. It combines ping traceroute information with details on how many users serve in the area. It tells you how many hops away the users are from your server. You can look at the traceroute in real-time to see how fast each hop is.
When it probes a host, it also reports back basic information about the host such as IP address, hostname, etc. It does not try to identify which hosts are up and which are not; it just reports back failure to reach a specific host. This makes it useful for network debugging and also for simple proxying (or other activities) through routers or firewalls that have ICMP blocked. In short, it’s the perfect program to measure network performance.
