GNOME Commander alternatives
GNOME Commander is a brand new standalone file manager for the web, written in JavaScript. It’s an experiment and a proof-of-concept that demonstrates how to write a fully functional modern file manager from scratch. It is a graphical file manager for the GNOME 3 desktop, which can be used to manage files both in the file system and from remote locations such as FTP servers. Besides FTP support, the application supports browsing local memory devices as well as SSH servers.
The application comes with a set of intuitive file management tools and features, such as basic copy/move/delete support, bookmarks, tabbed navigation, preview pane, file search, thumbnails, window previews, and sorting. System integration is another key feature of GNOME Commander — it allows users to quickly perform tasks like mounting or un-mounting drives, creating file shortcuts on the desktop or in the start menu, and accessing removable media.
