Logback alternatives
Logback is a next-generation logging library for Java that is fully compatible with the Java.util.logging API. It consists of a powerful pattern-based filter, layout and routing engine, and a number of pluggable appenders, including unified2 and ConsoleAppender. The tool also provides extensive configuration options, including Internationalization, file appending, JMX monitoring, Interceptors, and JDK 5. Logback is easy to configure, doesn’t depend on any other logging framework or Apache Commons, and doesn’t have any external dependencies.
Its architecture is based on a streaming API that enables it to write events directly to disk without the use of temporary files or garbage collection, resulting in faster and more deterministic performance than log4j. In addition to the default ConsoleHandler, Logback also provides handlers for the output methods. All in all, Logback is a simple and easy-to-use logging library that provides thread safety and uses a configurable, pattern-based approach to logging.
