Pixie Renderer alternatives
Pixie Renderer is an open-source 3D rendering software for creating photo-realistic images. The main features of Pixie Renderer are Global Illumination, Reyes style Rendering Depth of Field, and Motion Blur. Although Pixie Renderer is relatively old software, it does support multi-resolution Ray Tracing using ray differentials which are built on RenderMan Shading Language. It is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.
The software is built on 64-bit architecture and can utilize multiple cores and threads of the CPU. Multiple GPU support is also available to offload the stress on different hardware. 3D textures and point cloud baking lets you create realistic surfaces like glossy surface, fine threading or skin textures. This is a tool better suited for beginners and the ones who cannot afford high-end commercial software. A source file is also available for developers to extract or add some features.
