Sunflow Rendering System alternatives
Sunflow Rendering System is an open-source 3D rendering software for synthesizing photo-realistic images and models. It is built on a ray-tracing core and object-oriented design. The software is pretty old and hasn’t got an update since 2007. Based on JAVA language, it supports basic image formats including JPEG, PNG, TGA, HDR along with ASCII and binary file. It formats to speed up the exporting/importing in complex scenes. Motion blurring of moving objects is also available. Supported applications are Maya, 3ds Max, Cheetah3D, and Blender.
The main features of Sunflow Rendering System are Instancing, Structure Acceleration, Polygonal Lenses for Bokeh simulation, Absorption Model for glass shading, Physically-based Sky and Sun system, Fisheye Lens, Wireframe Shader, Area Light Sampling and 3D animation support. Sunflow Rendering System can apply anti-aliasing while upscaling or downscaling of the image to avoid moiré patterns. Tessellation and acceleration of structure building are a part of the software but due to slow processing, it does not worth the time.
