Update Notifier is a standalone application that checks which software applications you have installed and tells you if updates are available for them. Since most of us have many applications installed, and many of them do not have automatic updates, The application is a very useful tool. It doesn’t require installation and can be run from a USB drive, so it can be part of your portable toolbox.
Every time you run the application and it goes beyond the interval threshold, it will asynchronously check for available updates using NPM in the background and then save the result. The next time the notifier will run and the result will be loaded into the .update property. This prevents any impact on the launch performance of your package. The verification process is done with a fork. This means that if you call process. exit, the validation will still be done in its own process.
