HeyWire alternatives
HeyWire is a platform that is aimed at giving a voice to the issues and aspirations of youth living in rural areas. It helps raise awareness about the issues that are unheard in the community and provide some unique ideas and issue-based training opportunity for youth leaders in order to tackle the issue. The awareness is raised via two initiatives. One is through radio pieces that are broadcast on its proprietary ABC local radio network, and the other way is by binging the finalists together to participate in the youth forum.
Heywire service is open to young people age between 16 and 22 years and who live outside Australia’s main cities. These young people are called to submit writing for a three-minute radio story about what life is like for them. Those entries are judged in the districts, and one leader is selected from each of nearly 40 ABC radio areas in Australia. The aim of the Heywire youth problems forum is to provide young people the ability to get up and have their say and be caught on radio as well as in their communities.
